Use of Is/Am/Are

अंग्रेजी भाषा में is/ am/ are का प्रयोग सबसे आसान वाक्य बनाने में किया जाता है. इन तीनों का प्रयोग वर्तमान काल में simple sentences बनाने में किया जाता है. इनका प्रयोग आसान भी है और उपयोगी भी. आइए इस प्रकार के वाक्यों का अभ्यास करें :

Affirmative Sentences

(सकारात्मक वाक्य)

यहां कुछ उदाहरण दिए गए हैं:

Here are some examples:

1. मैं बहुत थक गया हूं।

I'm so tired.

2. मैं उलझन में हूं।

I'm confused.

3. मैं खुश हूं।

I'm happy.

4. मैं तेईस साल का हूँ।

I'm twenty three years old.

5. मुझे भूख लगी है।

I'm hungry.

6. मुझे भूख लगी है।

I'm nervous.

7. मैं उत्साहित हूं।

I'm excited.

8. मैं काम छोड़ रहा हूं।

I'm leaving work.

9. मैं काम छोड़ रहा हूं।

I'm thirsty.

10. मैं भारत से हूँ।

I'm from india.

You can also add descriptive words with 'I'm' such as:

11.मैं बेहद थक गया हूँ।

I'm extremely tired.

12. मैं बहुत खुश हूँ।

I'm very happy.

13. मै बहुत जय़ादा भूखा हूॅ।

I'm terribly hungry.

14. मैं बहुत उत्साहित हूँ।

I am super excited.

15. मैं बहुत घबराया हुआ हूँ।

I'm very nervous.

16. मैं एक डॉक्टर हूँ.

I’m a doctor.

17. यह कार है.

This is a car.

18. यह साइकिल है.

This is a cycle.

19. वह मंदिर है.

That’s a temple.

20. यह हमारी फैक्ट्री है.

This is our factory.

21. उसका नाम पूजा है.

Her name is Pooja.

22. यह मेरी चाची हैं.

This is my aunt.

23. वह एक लड़का है.

That’s a boy.

24. यह एक पेंसिल है.

This is a pencil.

25. यह कुर्सी पुरानी है.

This chair is old.

26. यह कलम है.

This is a pen.

27. महेश मेरा मित्र है.

Mahesh is my friend.

28. वह मेरी बहन है.

She is my sister.

29. वह एक विद्यार्थी है.

He’s a student.

30. ये मेरी गायें हैं.

These are my cows.

31. ये मेरी बोतलें हैं.

These are my bottles.

32. वह धोखेबाज़ है.

He is a cheater.

33. वह ईमानदार लड़की है.

She’s an honest girl.

34. वे मेरे रिश्तेदार हैं.

They’re my relatives.

35. वह बदसूरत है.

She’s ugly.

Negative Sentences

(नकारात्मक वाक्य)

36. मैं डॉक्टर नहीं हूँ.

I’m not a doctor.

यह कार नहीं है.

37. This is not a car.

38. यह साइकिल नहीं है.

This is not a cycle.

39. वह मंदिर नहीं है.

That’s not a temple.

40. तुम उदास नहीं हो.

You’re not sad.

41. वे खुश नहीं हैं.

They’re not happy.

42. हम विद्यार्थी नहीं हैं.

We’re not students.

43.वे खिलाड़ी नहीं हैं.

They’re not players.

44. यह मूर्ति नहीं है.

This is not a statue.

45. ये बाल्टियाँ नहीं हैं.

These are not buckets.

Interrogative Sentences

(प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य)

46. क्या तुम एक अध्यापक हो?

Are you a teacher?

47. क्या वह बैलगाड़ी है?

that a bullock cart?

48. क्या यह तुम्हारा पेन है?

Is this your pen?

49. क्या सुजीत एक लेखक है?

Is Sujeet a writer?

50. क्या वह भूखी है?

Is she hungry?

51. क्या तुम बीमार हो?

Are you ill?

52. क्या वे सैनिक हैं?

Are they soldiers?

53. क्या हम मजदूर हैं?

Are we labourers?

54. क्या बक्सा भारी है?

Is the box heavy?

55. क्या ये प्लेटें हैं?

Are these disdishe.

Memorable Points :

(i) Am का प्रयोग I के साथ किया जाता है. जबकि is का प्रयोग singular subjects जैसे: he, she, Ram, Sita, this, that आदि के साथ तथा are का प्रयोग plural subjects जैसे s & we, you, they, these, those आदि के साथ होता है.

(ii). I’m I am का संक्षिप्त रूप है जो कि बोलचाल में काफ़ी प्रचलित है. I’m के समान ही अन्य संक्षिप्त रूपों का भी अभ्यास करें जैसे That is का संक्षिप्त रूप That’s] She is का संक्षिप्त रूप She’s] He is का संक्षिप्त रूप he’s] We are का संक्षिप्त रूप we’re] They are का संक्षिप्त रूप They’re तथा You are का संक्षिप्त रूप you’re है.

(iii). Negative sentences बनाने के लिए is/are/am के बाद ‘not’ का प्रयोग किया जाता है.

(iv). Interrogative sentences बनाने के लिए is/are/am को वाक्य के शुरू में लगाया जाता है.
