Good morning everyone, and a very warm welcome to all of you!

Respected Toastmasters, distinguished guests, fellow members, and my dear friends—

Happy Independence Day! 🇮🇳

Today, as our great nation celebrates its 80th Independence Day, we are not merely celebrating a date in history. We are celebrating the courage of those who dreamed of a free India, the sacrifices of those who fought for that dream, and the achievements of millions who continue to build our nation every single day.

Our theme today is—

“India: Then vs Now.”

Just pause for a moment and imagine India then.

A nation under colonial rule…

A nation where freedom came at an enormous cost…

A nation where countless brave souls stood up and said—

“We will not accept slavery. We will fight for our freedom.”

From Mahatma Gandhi's non-violence to Bhagat Singh's courage, from Subhas Chandra Bose's determination to the sacrifices of countless known and unknown freedom fighters—

they gave us something priceless:

Our FREEDOM. 🇮🇳

But then comes the most important question—

What have we done with that freedom?

Now, let us look at India today.

From a country struggling to build its basic infrastructure to a nation launching missions into space… 🚀

From limited access to technology to becoming a global force in digital payments and technology… 💻

From being a developing nation to becoming one of the world's fastest-growing major economies…

And from simply dreaming about the future—

India is now creating the future.

But India’s greatest transformation is not only visible in technology, roads, buildings, or satellites.

It is visible in you and me.

Today, a young Indian can dream bigger.

A student from a small town can speak to the world.

A girl from a remote village can become an entrepreneur, scientist, officer, athlete, or leader.

And platforms like Toastmasters give ordinary people an extraordinary opportunity—

to find their voice. 🎤

Because communication is not just about speaking English.

It is about having the confidence to express your ideas, the courage to share your opinions, and the ability to inspire others.

And that brings us perfectly to today's meeting.

Today, we will hear thought-provoking speeches, participate in Table Topics, practice impromptu speaking, learn from one another, and most importantly—

celebrate the India that was, appreciate the India that is, and imagine the India that can be.

So, I invite each one of you to think about one question throughout today's meeting:

“If the freedom fighters of 1947 could see India today, what would they feel proud of—and what would they want us to change?”

Let us reflect.

Let us speak.

Let us listen.

And let us celebrate the spirit of New India. 🇮🇳
